This is a reproduction print of the historical map “Szlakiem Legionów” (Following the Legions), prepared by Teofil Szumański and published by Książnica-Atlas in Lwów and Warsaw in 1934.
The map documents the history and military operations of the Polish Legions during World War I, particularly across Galicia and the former Russian Partition. It presents the routes and battlefields associated with the Legions between 1914 and 1917, providing a detailed cartographic record of an important chapter in Poland’s struggle for independence.
A notable feature is the inset Battle of Kostiuchnówka (1916) map at a scale of 1:80,000. The battle was one of the largest and most significant engagements fought by the Polish Legions during World War I.
The original large-format map measured approximately 99 × 76 cm, was printed in multiple colors at a scale of 1:800,000, and used shaded relief to represent the terrain.
