This is a reproduction print of the historical map “Comparative Size of Lakes and Islands” by G.W. Colton, published by J.H. Colton in 1855.

The map is designed as a visual comparison of major lakes and islands around the world, divided into four sections: lakes of the Western Hemisphere, lakes of the Eastern Hemisphere, islands of the Western Hemisphere, and islands of the Eastern Hemisphere. It features geographical landmarks including the Great Lakes, Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, Newfoundland, Great Britain, Iceland, and numerous Caribbean and Pacific islands.

Printed in color with relief indicated through hachures, the map combines educational information with the decorative style of mid-19th-century American cartography. Clear inscriptions and carefully arranged comparisons make it both an informative geographical reference and an attractive historical wall print.
